I haven't played FFXI in a long time and I'm interested in starting anew to get to know you guys so it makes the transition to FFXIV easier. Do you guys think its worth it to start over and just play till FFXIV comes out?

well, we got over a year before its released. so if you dont have anything else to do, why not!

FF11 is alot more friendly to new players now, and you could get 75 and decent amount of stuff done in 1 yr easily. So yeah youll get your enjoyment out of it.

Were on the Leviathan Server if you do

yeah, not sure when you last played, but if it was a couple years ago, then now its much easier to level through the low levels. things like fields of valor, level sync, campaign, and a boost to exp gained from EP/DC mobs will help.
