well I'm goin wit a laptop cause i wanna use it while i'm in college also. So the long and short of it is i COULD get a desktop but i think a laptop will fit my needs better for the moment.

Bo, Id really advise against it.
From SE's comments on hardware, unless you spend like 2-3k on a Laptop it likely wont be able to play 14 smoothly.
I recommend waiting until beta so we can get real data on hardware requirements before building any system yet.

well XIV aside I still need a comp for school so I have no choice there. The way SE is making XIV sound it seems it's gonna have some pretty high req's so i think i might just go wit a desktop for now then.

yeah it seems to me like ffxiv is going to have significantly higher reqs than xi - i mean, just look at the preview videos and screenies. the graphics have stepped up significantly in the past 7 years.
so just look at a good laptop for college use, and you could try ffxiv on that when the beta comes around. depending on how it works out, you could plan for a desktop later.
from the choices you posted, id say #3 with the intel dual core is the best choice for college/general use. the other two have a slower AMD single core.

Well when your cpu can do so much more than it's stock clocking. It saves you money vs buying the highest model of the cpu and everything else. You can have a 2.5ghz cpu run at 3+ and save a good amount of money. As long as you know what you're doing, you're pretty safe.

well i just bought my laptop today and i have to say that love this damn thing far! imma start down loading xi as soon as i'm done here so i should be on as soon as tomoorow! see u guys soon
